MALI coach Jean-Francois Joder has blasted
the organisers of GLO-CAF 2007 awards to
be held in Lome Togo on Friday February
1, 2008.
He vowed not to let striker Fredric Kanoute
fly out to Lome for the awards. The Malian
along with 2006 winner Didier Drogba of
Cote d’ Ivoire and Michael Essien
of Ghana are the three nominees for 2007
award.
The French coach was exclusively talking
to Daily Monitor at the team’s Airport
West Hotel in Accra on Monday.
“These people are very crazy. When
everybody is concentrating on the tournament,
they come up with crazy idea,” a fuming
Joder remarked.
“The awards are two days before a
crucial quarter final match. It involves
not only travelling, but you have to sit
for another four hours during the function.
And if we happen to qualify for last eight
after tomorrow’s (today) match, we
need total concentration of all the players.
If the team loses, I will be blamed.”
About Momo Sissoko, Joder stated that he
gave him permission to travel to Turin to
finalise his move to Italian side Juventus.
“We agreed with his agent that he
travels to Turin and is due back today (yesterday).
I will have to decide whether he is in the
best frame of mind to play against Cote
d’ Ivoire today,” he said.
