THREE Stanbic Bank customers have each
won an all expenses paid trip plus $1,000
(Shs1.7m) pocket money to watch the penultimate
stage of the MTN Africa Cup of Nations (ACFON).
The continental showpiece will run from
January 20 to February 10, 2008 in Accra,
Ghana. The three lucky winners will have
the privilege of traveling with partners
of their choice to watch the soccer games
and tourist attractions like the Gold Coast
and Old Fort.
Boniface Igelese (A/c 75601) from Bundibugyo
branch, Caroline Abanya(A/c 42001) from
IPS branch and Solome Ssebina ( Account
number 06401) from City Branch were the
lucky winners.
About 63,558 customers took part in the
promotion that run from October 1 to November
30.
Stanbic Bank Managing Director Philip Odera
announced the winners' names after the draw
held at Cham Towers, Kampala Road yesterday.
“Football is the most popular sport
on the African continent and we at Stanbic
find it only natural to identify ourselves
with the passion of the people. It is also
our responsibility to give back to the customers,”
Odera said.
He added that for the last three years,
Standard Bank the mother company of Stanbic
Bank has injected over Sh5b (2.1m euros)
to develop Africa football through the Confederation
of African Football (Caf).
The bank will also facilitate 10 winners
from each of the 17 countries where it operates
in Africa to watch the biennial showpiece.
