Benin's German coach Reinhardt Fabisch has compared Ivory Coast's Elephants to a Mercedes Benz. He was speaking after his side fell 1-4 in a Group B match played in Sekondi on Friday.

“We played future African champions with motivated World Cup players like Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou. You can not compare a Mercedes Benz to a bike,” a relaxed Fabsich said.

“"Today you saw the difference between second tier professionals and world class players. Unless a Mercedes runs out of fuel, you cannot think of using a bike.”

Asked to comment further on the bribery allegation which has seen the continent football governing body Caf give him 24 hours to sign an affidavit, Fabisch insisted that he stands by his earlier statement.

“From day one those three were my pick for the semis along with Morocco but after the 3-2 loss to Guinea , they have made it difficult for themselves,” he concluded.

He promised that his team will put up even a better show on Monday against Guinea during their last Group A game.
The Dutch coach was speaking to Sunday Monitor after Friday's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Ghana's Black Stars.

“We played better than the hosts and the counter attacking game suited us as we created better scoring opportunities. The boys showed character and confidence,” he said.
