FUFA has received Shs87m ($50,000) from
Africa football governing body Caf. The
money is part of $100,000 (Shs174m) annual
grant under the CAF Development Programme
“Contract with Africa” which
the federation is set to get in 2006-2007.
Confederation of African Football Director
of Communications and Public Relations Sulemani
Habuba confirmed to Daily Monitor on phone
yesterday that the body dispatched the money
to Fufa.
“ Uganda is one of the 13 Caf members
who have received half the grant in the
current financial year,” he said.
Fufa boss Mr Lawrence Mulindwa acknowledged
receipt of the money.
“We have used some of the money to
pay the federation Education Officer William
Byuma and the rest will be used to organise
women football tournaments, pitches for
Under-15s, and purchase of 1,500 balls to
distribute to grassroots,” Mulindwa
said.
The Cairo based body introduced the “Contract
With Africa” programme last year.
