TODAY:
URA v Simba

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC face their toughest test at the Cecafa Kagame Cup when they come up against combative home side Simba in the semifinal today.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m. with URA hoping for the support of Yanga fans, who hate Simba with a vengeance. Yanga fans invited their URA counterparts for a drink at Chagga Bite Restaurant Tuesday night and they promised the Ugandans unconditional support.

“All that we want is to see Simba beaten. Tell your players that when they enter the stadium, they should look to the left hand side and wave to us. That will be the start of our support towards them,” diehard Yanga fan Ramathan Issa said.

Yanga has not beaten Simba in a domestic fixture for seven years. URA will miss the services of suspended midfield holder Tony Mawejje, while striker Ismail Kigozi and inspirational winger Dan Wagaluka are major doubts.

“Both players are still in great pain despite undergoing intensive treatment. We shall wait for tomorrow (today) morning to judge whether they will be able to play,” physician Jack Walugembe said.Kigozi scored the opening goal in the quarterfinal victory over Miembeni but did not complete the game.

Coach Moses Basena is expected to field former SC Villa striker Henry Kisekka and Martin Muwanga in the pair’s place.Spurred by their new Bulgarian coach Krassimir Smilenov, Simba have shown great improvement in their last three games and he reckons the game will be decided by mistakes.

“It is a very crucial stage and the team that will make a mistake will pack,” Smilenov said. Last year URA reached the final in Kigali, Rwanda.

Rwandan President Paul Kagame has staked $60,000 or Shs96 million in prize money for the top three teams. The winning team is to pocket $30,000, while the runners up will pick up $20,000.
