Seven new districts to become
affiliated to local football governing
body
Tomorrow in Jinja
Fufa Assembly
THE Federation of the Uganda Football
Associations (Fufa) Annual General
Assembly is to approve a Shs2b budget
when it convenes tomorrow in Jinja.
It will be the second AGM since Lawrence
Mulindwa was elected unopposed as
Fufa president in December 2005.
A source within the federation told
Daily Monitor that a Shs2b budget
had been finalised and would be presented
to the delegates for approval when
they convene tomorrow.
At the same assembly, delegates will
approve seven districts that recently
applied to get affiliated to the local
football governing body.
“The budget looks at different
things, ranging from the Cranes, revival
of women's football, to the other
structures and the general development
of the game in the country,"
the source said.
The federation is planning to enter
into the several Caf and Fifa sanctioned
youth tournaments and that is why
it has budgeted Shs500m more than
last year's budget that was passed
in Mbarara.
A Shs1.5b budget was approved last
year.
Fufa vice president in charge of
finance, Mr Jowali Kyeyago confirmed
the development.
“I can confirm that the budget
is in that range. It caters for so
many things but it's for the good
of the local game,” Kyeyago
said.
At the same assembly, audited books
of accounts with details of last year's
revenues and expenditure will be presented
to the delegates.
Mulindwa commended the central government
for facilitating last year's budget
and urged it to keep up the spirit.
“I salute the government for
the support they have given to Fufa
in the last financial year. However,
since it will be tough this time round
I urge them to come in a bigger way
to ensure that we accomplish our mission
together," Mulindwa said.
Over 100 delegates will be in Jinja.
Thereafter, a Schools’ U-15
tourney will take place.
