Uganda v Niger
The Federation of Uganda Football
Associations (Fufa) have made it known
that they will not take any bait regarding
the speculation linking Laszlo Csaba
to Cameroon until they receive an
official communication from the Cranes
coach or his agent.
The Cameroon Football Association
website (www.fecafootonline.com) claimed
on Tuesday that 78 contenders including
Csaba had beaten the July 17 deadline
for the vacant job to coach the Indomitable
Lions.
Federation President Lawrence Mulindwa
(below) said he is disappointed by
the development. “Csaba called
me and denied all allegations but
I think it was his agent (Antonio
Carlo). You know those guys (agents)
are always very ambitious,”
Mulindwa said.
“We have a four year contract
with Csaba and I don't expect him
to terminate it as he has never complained
about anything.”
Fufa legal officer Fred Muwema also
stated that they would not rely on
the highly speculative media reports
to jump to conclusions.
“Csaba is still under contract
and is obligated to coach the senior
side and all junior teams. We are
not aware of his desire to walk away.
He has made it clear us that he wants
to see through his contract. Even
no third party has contacted us about
the development,” Muwema argued.
However, according to Csaba's contract,
there's a get out clause. Either party
can for any reason terminate the contract
after consensus between the two sides.
But the terminating party is supposed
to offer monetary compensation for
walking out on the contract. Csaba
has only covered one year and if he
opts out, he will have to pay Fufa
the remaining three years of his contract.
The labour law also stipulates that
one party cannot keep someone unhappy.
He or she is at liberty to sell his
or her talents elsewhere if there's
a viable reason and both parties have
reached a common understanding.
But Muwema has insisted that Fufa
would not take any measures hurriedly.
“I don't want to talk about
the implications. We have to wait
for the official notification from
the coach, his agent or the third
party (Cameroon FA),” concluded
Muwema.
The 42 year old signed a four contract
worth US$7,500 (Shs12.5m) per month
in June 2006.
The benefits on his contract include
a free house worth $2,500 (Shs4.5m)
per month, two return air tickets
to Europe every year, a car and education
for his children.
