THE Federation of the Uganda Football
Associations (Fufa) yesterday successfully
amended article 16 paragraph C subsection
1 of the constitution at an extraordinary
assembly held at Hotel Brovad in Masaka.
The assembly that brought together
99 delegates saw themajority vote
to clarify the article that has lately
caused controversy. The new article,
which now renders the Mbale Heroes
Football Club court case insignificant
took immediate effect after Fufa president
Lawrence Mulindwa endorsed the amendment
at the same assembly.
“The leagues of all football
associations shall be organised by
the respective associations under
the directions and guidance of Fufa,”
read the article before it was amended.
The new article states that; “The
Super Division League shall be organised
and supervised by the Federation of
Uganda football Associations (Fufa),
however the federation may constitute
a separate committee to execute this
work on its behalf”.
Mbale Heroes had earlier resorted
to the civil courts insisting that
the local football governing body
had no powers to organise and run
the National League.
71 of the 99 delegates in attendence,
voted in support of the amendment
of the article.
