Kakungulu Cup final
Express FC vs Maji
RECORD 8-time Kakungulu Cup winners Express
FC are heavily fancied to add this year's
title to their honours when they face Maji
FC in the final at Nakivubo Stadium today.
It's the third time this season that the
sides meet and Maji have a score to settle
after losing home and away to the Reds 3-2
in the National Super League. Maji coach
Issa Isabirye is confident things will be
different this time out. Isabirye said Maji's
victory will be as a result of Express underestimating
them.
"Just like we shocked Simba who thought
they were a better side, the same thing
will happen to Express," he said.
The tactician has opted for a more combative
midfield in a 3-5-2 formation. Yusufu Serumaga,
Katende Muselelo and Nasser Ramadhan will
lead the midfield pack to supply striking
pair Asadi Makibwe and Vialli Bainomugisha.
Stand in Express coach Kefa Kisala said
the game will be treated like the usual
league matches.
He has been boosted by the news that Moses
Aduni, Hassan Mubiru and Tony Odur are fit
to help the Red Eagles triumph. Kampala
City Council FC and SC Villa have won the
Cup 8 and 7 times respectively.
"Most people think that finals are
different from the usual matches which is
not the case. It's only that pressure from
the crowd makes it big. We are taking this
game like other matches," said Kisala
who won four Kakungulu Cup trophies with
Express as a player.
