Former Uganda Cranes full back Philip Obwiny is back at SC Villa. The dead-ball specialist has been training with the Jogoos ahead of the new season that starts September 19.

Obwiny’s return at Villa Park has left almost several fans excited but coach Sula Kato says that the defender is not part of the team. “He is here for his personal training but you never know, we may later take him on,” Kato explained.

However, sources say the club are keen on securing Obwiny because of his wealth of experience, which will be needed when Villa compete in the Caf Confederations Cup next year.

Villa are also considering to bring back Kenyan striker Bernard Mwalala. Obwiny was one of the most versatile players in the league more than a decade ago and had impressive spells at rivals Express and Villa.
