Steven Bengo returning to Villa Park

If there has ever been good news at Villa Park this year, nothing will beat the latest that former talisman, Steven Bengo is set to complete his move back to SC Villa, a club he joined as a 13-year old youngster back in 2001.

Joseph Kanaaba, the Director of Football Strategy told sc-villa.com that the club has been in talks with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC for the last few days in order to broker a deal for Bengo.

Kanaaba said that they talks have gone well and URA have accepted to sell Bengo back to Villa after the player had expressed interest to return to his former hunting ground. Bengo was Villa’s best player between 2007 and 2009 before Tanzanian club, Yanga bought him from Villa at the end of the 2008/2009 season.

Then, Bengo had inspired Villa to a Uganda Cup win over URA in June 2009. The news of Bengo’s return is expected to reverberate around the country and lift the spirits at Villa Park as the club tries to restore its pride. Bengo, who trained with his new club on Monday 23rd January was evidently excited to be back to a club he holds so dear.

The Manager, Mike Mutebi expressed his satisfaction upon getting the news about Bengo. He will be putting pen to paper this week to complete his move. Mutebi said that he was happy about Bengo’s return because he is undoubtedly one of the best talents in Ugandan football.

The prospect of Bengo teaming up with Ronald Muganga, Noah Semakula and Moses Ndawula is surely bound to get Villa back on fire. The fans can only hope for the best surely.
