Villa 1-0 Arua
Nalubaale 2-1 Kinyara
He might have relinquished the captaincy mid-way through the season after allegedly going several months without pay but Tony Ndolo’s commitment to SC Villa is unquestionable.
The Kenyan defender glanced Simeon Masaba’s corner past Arua goalkeeper Macho Erasasi as 10-man Villa laboured to a 1-0 victory over the bottom side in an ill-tempered Uganda Super League game at Namboole last evening. Villa moved from sixth to fourth with 32 points, five adrift of leaders Express (37) and eight clear of Nalubaale in eighth. The latter edged visiting Kinyara 2-1 at Nakivubo. Kinyara (14) and Arua (10) continue to occupy the bottom two places on the 18-team log.
On a damp Namboole turf, midfielder Chris Ntambi, on as a substitute for an ineffective Francis Aloo, received his marching orders on 76 minutes.
Ntambi appeared to unleash a double slap on the hugely impressive Erasasi in an off-the-ball incident after the pair were involved in sledging.
At Nakivubo, Charles Baingana scored a 25-yard scorcher seven minutes from time to give Nalubaale a deserved victory. Simon Mbaziira’s header gave the hosts the lead on 22 minutes from a corner but his team were pegged back when Jimmy Nyakaana struck from the spot in the second half.
