SC VILLA National Fans Coordinator Ben
Immanuel Misagga has called on soccer fans
to vote for members of parliament who are
willing to change the Ugandan football game
into a professional one.
Recently Misagga had gone on a witch-hunting
mission for West Africans for the Jogoos,
but the players refused citing an amateur
league in Uganda. "Unless our league
is turned professional, we shall not have
star players in our clubs and thus the standards
of the game will remain low," he added.
Misagga had hired a technical person to
scout in Zambia, Sierra Leone and Malawi,
but no result has been attained to date.
"I sent a technical person to those
countries , but he was ignored because the
league in Uganda is still amateur,"
he added.
He said no serious football player can
leave a professional league to join an amateur
one unless he has no club. He called upon
soccer fans to vote for only members of
parliament who will help lobby for the change
of the football format in the country.
Newly selected Express coach George Semwogerere,
fresh from Tanzania also hinted at the same
issue of turning the league into a professional
one recently. |
