JUST weeks after losing coach Frank "Video" Anyau, embattled National Super League champions Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) have sold prolific striker Hamis Kitagenda to Atraco FC of Rwanda.

Kitagenda, who led the scorer's chart last season with 20 goals, joined the tax collectors from Kampala City Council FC in the January transfer window for Shs 4m. URA secretary Edirisa Ssesanga confirmed the player's departure and also disclosed that his move was agreed by the two clubs.

“They (Atraco) refunded the money we gave the player during the transfer exercise and we let him go because it's our policy that we do not interfere with any player's interest," said Ssesanga.

Kitagenda missed URA's 0-4 capitulation to SC Villa as he is already in Rwanda to start training with Atraco as they prepare for the Rwanda Premier League second round games that start next week.

“I last communicated to him when he was crossing the boarder to Rwanda yesterday morning," Ssesanga said.
The player, who top scored for the Cranes at the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup last December with five had eight goals to his name this season but did not score any goal for URA in the four games he featured for them.

“Kitagenda did not show any determination in the games he played for URA. He was always carefree and this explains why he never appeared on the scoresheet while at URA,” Ssesanga said.

Fufa issued the player with an International Transfer Certificate (ITC). “When both clubs agreed, Atraco requested for an ITC and we issued it to them as the rules of the game state. So Kitagenda is now a legal player for Atraco,” Fufa Publicist Rogers Mulindwa said. He cost Atraco $5,000.
