SC Villa completed a double on the struggling
reigning Super League champions URA FC, thumping
them 4-0 in a second round game at Namboole yesterday.
The Jogoos came into the game knowing they had
to win to keep pace with table leaders Police
FC and they did exactly that.

The game started with both sides rather cautious
and it took the braveness of Oscar Kadenge to
beat an offside trap on 19 minutes to give SC
Villa the lead. Kadenge rounded off URA goalkeeper
Joseph Babigumira for Villa’s first.
Then Stephen Bengo, Emmanuel Okwi and Mike Azira
took control of the game, troubling the tax collectors’
defence at will.
Okwi should have doubled Villa’s lead but
was denied by the crossbar. First half ended 1-0
in favour of the visitors.
After recess, the Jogoos started from where they
stopped and this time round it was Bengo’s
magnificent solo effort 11 minutes into the second
half that doubled the lead.
Defender cum midfielder Azira made it three before
the hour to guarantee three points for the Blues
as they embark on a quest to dislodge Police from
the top of the table and possibly win their first
league title in over three years.
The off colour tax collectors who should have
conceded more goals were on different occasions
saved by their impressive goalkeeper Babigumira.
Okwi sealed it with a likely candidate for the
goal of the season when he rattled home a scorcher
off a free kick to complete the Jogoo’s
rout of the home side.
As luck would have it, Police were held 1-1 away
by lowly Biharwe. Villa have now amassed 47 points,
and have a game in hand. Police have lost four
points in their last two league matches.
In today’s action, Bunnamwaya host Masaka
LC while Nalubaale face Ediofe.
